Q & A

Welcome to my new Q & A page!

In response to requests for short, authorative answers to questions on any of my 3 subjects (Urinary Tract Infections, Candida and Mercury Poisoning), we have set this page up for you. This is not for counselling purposes because I never do that online but it can be for generalised queries for which you need a brief answer.

Please feel free to post a question on my website using the comments box, scroll down below to find it.

  1. Dear Cary,
In my e-book and paperback in the IC section I do describe ways to help decrease the sometimes annoying and sometime painful inflammatory process that still seems to accompany the healing process of recovering from Mycoureaplasma infection. So please take note of my recommendations in that book section.

I am in some other discussions about possible nerve ending damage by Myco within bladder walls which are so delicate and thin.
I will see where the discussions go; so far two university pain clinic professors have not answered my mail!! I shall repeat send soon.

  2. Cary says says:

    Dear Angela
Thank you for your advice and recommending the bacteriologist. Both he and your book have helped me enormously, the advice described in your book has helped me to prevent cystitis and I haven’t had an episode since November last year. Thank you! My follow-up test results show that there is no longer any bacterial infection or urea plasma present.
I however still feel cystitis symptoms, they are very mild, but do intensify in the mornings or if I need the loo. I am being very careful with my diet, no alcoholic drinks, citrus fruits, nothing spicy. I pretty much only drink water (no teas or coffees). It has been a month since all my test results came back negative. I also read in your book about the lingering inflammation that can in some women take up to six months to leave the body. As the pain is mild and constant I concluded it must be that.

I do the 3 hour attack plan every other day to try and help improve the pain, but it always comes back. Is there anything else I could be doing to speed up the healing process?

  3. Hi B,

    Happy New Year!

Apologies for my delay in responding to you.

If you are really sure you have a yeast overgrowth then it’s my Candida book you need. You can get it paperback in either the UK or USA, or as an e-book, see the suppliers page on my site for details. I prefer women to have the paperbacks since it’s just so quick to pick it up and look at it again.

Let me know how you get on.

    All best wishes,
    Angela

  4. Bec says:

Hi. I suffer reoccurring UTI symptoms from Yeast overgrowth. I am not sure of the actual cause but i am confused which book/booklet would be most suitable for me?

  5. Hi Emma,

This is nice to get up and read on a cold and frosty morning, thank you.
Have a wonderful Christmas NOT ignoring the simple rules!

    All best wishes,
    Angela

  6. Emma says:

    Hi Angela,

I wanted to write to you to say thank you, after nearly a whole year Cystitis free.

After countless days off work, sleepless nights and one pointless, painful cystoscopy later I was recommended your book. Having read it very quickly I adopted your techniques and have never suffered from Cystitis again.

I now feel that I can go on holiday and enjoy myself without the need to cart antibiotics wherever I go.

    Thank you for your help,

    Emma

  7. Hi Greg,

    Thanks for getting in contact.

You need to read up and its my book “The Patients Encyclopaedia of Urinary Tract infection, Sexual Cystitis, Interstitial Cystitis“, you need it badly. Even though it seems to be more for women than men, you will get to learn about germs, hygiene, sexual Cystitis causes and especially about Mycoplasma.

Although you will not die from this, life will be very restricted as you are now finding out. Promiscuity damages health and I’m sorry you never got to understand this as a teenager.

Mycoplasma is incredibly difficult to treat especially when linking up with the inflammations caused by scar tissue from all your other STD’s of the past. Warts and Herpes stay for life. You need now to start reading all you can and for a considerable time, stay celibate and get well.

I only counsel once my book is being practised and understood. I know where to send you for the best tests in Europe but not just yet.

    Keep in contact.

    Best wishes,
    Angela

  9. Dear Sue,

I’m pleased you’re going to learn my advice on how to treat and prevent Cystitis.

I don’t see anyone until they have had and properly practised what’s in my book for at least a month, so improvements can be monitored.

You have to take those antibiotics or bacteria will remain to colonise and flare. Then, the simple prevention kicks in.

Counselling is usually 2 hours depending upon how much work you have done. I charge £50.00 per hour and its usually just the one visit.

Recurrent attacks of Cystitis are self caused as the book will quickly show you; they can be stopped.

Let’s help you to get and stay better. I’d be happy to see you in a month’s time.

    Kind regards,

    Angela

  10. Sue says:

    Dear Angela,

Could I make an appointment to see you?

I am waiting for your book and DVD to arrive. I have been fighting this attack of Cystitis for 4 days – but it has now now gone to my kidneys ,the doctor has just prescribed Cefalexin and I am reluctant to take something that will make my problem worse long term and not clear this.

I have suffered from chronic recurrent Cystitis for 13 years now.

    Kind Regards,

    Sue

  11. Hi Clare,

The E. Coli is coming from you-your anal opening. This means that only you can control it. Do the ‘Bottle Washing’ process in my book line by line exactly! Not your own made-up version! Until you do this you will always have Cystitis. By the way what you have is not IC at all.

Read the book properly, do not skim through. Understand it as it happens on each page.

    Best wishes,
    Angela

  12. Clare says:

    Hi Angela,
Many thanks for this. I’m afraid I haven’t yet read your book as it hasn’t been delivered yet, but Amazon assure me it will be here tomorrow! We live on an island so sometimes things get delayed when weather is bad. I have already put into place some of the advice that I have found on your website though and as soon as it arrives I will start the regime. I have put myself on the IC diet this week, which has helped reduce the symptoms a little.
Yes, I have given a number of samples for analysis since the infection began in July, all of which have been first thing in the morning samples and midstream (I’ve had four children so I’m really good a getting a good sample!). My urologist has analysed them all and the bacteria is e-coli. I have tried five different kinds of antibiotics, all of which reduce the symptoms but never get rid of them completely. Obviously now that I am pregnant my options for antibiotics are limited. I sometimes have flare-ups whilst on antibiotics. My last sample (given whilst on 1.5g Cefalexin), shows no infection but white blood cells, ie. inflammation still present. My urologist insists that I have chronic bacterial urethritis. He says that some women just have infections which won’t go away. My obstetrician is more optimistic and says we can just keep trying different things. My urologist has just emailed me to suggest that I try a treatment called Cystistat, and he is now checking whether it can be done in pregnancy. I have googled it and it says it cannot, so I guess that is another dead end!
I think my symptoms are gradually fading but it is extremely slow progress and I do still have flare-ups, which frighten me, and I worry about the consequences for my pregnancy. I am on a prophylactic dose of cefalexin now, 250mg daily.
I am awaiting with excitement the arrival of your book, and any further advice you could give me would be very welcome indeed.
    Huge thanks,
    Clare

  13. Hi Clare,

Thanks for contacting me and sharing your concerns.

There are several answers necessary here BUT the main one is to know what the bacteria is that’s causing this 24 hour infection. It could be anything and the ‘usual’ ones should by now have responded to the ‘sensitive’ antibiotics since you appear have been given a selection already. A common mistake by patients is to drink before taking the urine sample. For at least 3 hours, or all night, no liquid should be drunk so that the strongest possible sample with the greatest amount of bacteria in it is then given. The lab can then ‘find it’ and say you do have an infection. And they can properly identify it and recommend the correct antibiotic. They cannot find any in a diluted sample. There’s lots in my book on all this and the bacteria and the unusual ones. BUT only with simple daily prevention will you stop new bacteria coming in. Until you do this from my book “The Patient’s Encyclopaedia of Urinary Tract Infection, Sexual Cystitis and Interstitial Cystitis” you will never know when another attack will be coming.

    Best wishes,
    Angela

  14. Clare says:

    Hi Angela,

I’m just wondering if your methods would be suitable for me? I have had a UTI for three months now, and I haven’t had a symptom free day since. It was caused by intercourse and I am seeing a urologist who has told me I have chronic urethritis. I have had seven courses of antibiotics, none of which have worked completely, and I am now moving onto a prophylactic dose of antibiotics, which I will stay on for a onth. I also see a homeopath who tells me it is caused/perpetuated by stress. I have had an extremely stressful year and I am taking measures to eliminate stress from my life as far as possible. I am also six weeks pregnant with my fifth baby, which is lovely but complicates matters, and the symptoms have been worse since getting pregnant. I am utterly miserable, the urethritis is simply ruining my life. I take acidophilus and a cranberry tablet daily, plus vitamin C and the usual pre-natal vitamins. I find that I feel fine when I wake up but the burning appears mid-morning and gets worse as the day progresses. I have ordered your book from Amazon and I notice from reviews that your methods really help to prevent attacks, but I am wondering if they could also help to cure chronic urethritis in the first place? I just can’t seem to shift the original infection.
    Many thanks,

    Clare

  15. Dear K,

Firstly, apologies for the slight delay in my response, I was away travelling. Thanks for you comments; I hear you are in pain and suffering.

The sooner you buy my book “The Patient’s Encyclopaedia of Urinary Tract Infection, Sexual Cystitis and Interstitial Cystitis“, start working on the practicalities of preventing new incoming infections and settling back into the simple self help, the better.

In my book I describe what happened to me for years and years, with both devastating Cystitis and equally its results of non-stop Candida. You will know that a full recovery like mine takes time. I waited for seven years before accepting I was now controlling IT and not IT controlling me, then I could fully accept I was always going to be better, and I am!

I have microscopic urethral bleeding which has no side effects at all, it’s just from the minute scars of each of those old attacks and medical mismanagement. I do not have any sign of infection and haven’t had for 35 years now. I simply, quickly and without any cost at all, just prevent it daily. Like I clean my teeth, so I clean effectively with my Bottle Washing technique.

I do counselling but not until any patient has had at least one month changing her current practices to those that I teach her.

My DVD “The Cystitis Solution“and my book “The Patient’s Encyclopaedia of Urinary Tract Infection, Sexual Cystitis and Interstitial Cystitis” ,hard cover preferably, will make Cystitis a misery of the past, if you read it CAREFULLY!!!

So get going now, and you’ll be just fine, like me. Take care of yourself and get well soon.

    Best wishes,
    Angela

  16. K says:

    Hi Angela,

I’ve suffered from recurrent uti’s for the past 10 years since I was 18 (only when I have been in a relationship). These are always invariably accompanied by either thrush or bv. I hope that your book can help to cure me but I am scared that the damage caused by recurrent infections and antibiotics means that my system has been irrevocably damaged, and that nothing can help any longer. This chronic illness destroys my relationships, makes me scared to enter in to relationships and makes me feel as there won’t ever be an end to the recurrent cycle of uti and thrush. Is there still hope for me? This condition has made me feel incredibly depressed.

    Thank you, K

  17. Hi,

A uniquely interesting question! I will give it some thought and reply again.

Heat might be one factor and bacterial death leaving the usual story of opportunistic fungal surge.

    Thanks for posting!

  18. Brenda says:

    Hi Angela,

Is it possible that a session of laser hair removal on the entire bikini area could somehow flare up or cause a vaginal yeast infection? Could it have messed up the balance in the vagina?

Wondering if you have any knowledge or opinions regarding this.

    Thanks so much.

  19. B says:

I would like to thank Angela for her advise. I suffered cystitis for 10 years!!!! I went to several doctors and nobody gave me any answers. I manage to get married somehow, my husband was very patient as I was constantly taking antibiotics. I lost almost half of my hair until two years ago when I was so depressed that I was almost thinking to retire to a life without sex. But on and arcticle in the newspaper I found your name, four days later the book was at home and I can safely say that I have a life again. My husband is very happy and I feel pretty and I am not afraid anymore. I have had a couple of attacks but I was camping and the bottle washing was not possible. Using the 3 hour management process has prevented me from taking antibiotics. Thank you Angela!!!!

  20. Carol says:

    Hi Angela

I have read your books on UTI’s and sexual cyctitis. Which was a great help in a desperate time. I had my first uti at 19 after my first sexual experience. I never had it again until 31. I have just recently had 2 infections in 1 month ( they start quickly and bleeding and passing blood clots happens in a matter of hours) and that is when I decided that this has to end. So I did some research and found out about your BW and I downloaded your book straight away. I am struggling though to mentally overcome this, I constanlty feel fearful even though I am bottle washing religiously. I feel anything down below and I start thinking the worst. My poor husband has been suffering to because I am to afraid to have sex, basically because I think that I am starting a UTI almost everyday. I really don’t know how to be brave and just start living my life again. I lie awake at night worrying about it, I drink so much water I never get a decent nights rest as I am convinced my urine is feels acidic in the morning and is darker in colour. It probably sounds ridiculous to you as you were so ill for so long with it and I have only had consistent infections for the past 6 months. I love my husband very much and I feel like such a disappointment. I just want to say thank you for your book, it was so informative and well written. You have given me the tools I now just need courage to move forward from here.

    Thank You
    Carol

  21. Yes, Kay, I do counselling. I’d like to help you.

Where possible I visit patients at home or if its too far I recommend a hotel at good prices off the M25 and right opposite Brentwood train station in Essex. Many come to me, too, but the venue needs a quiet room and with a bathroom, available for 2 hours. Counselling is usually a 2 hour session of questions and answers; I never examine of course. You do leave with a list of do’s and don’ts, according to what I discover, and according to what you have changed or noted since the month in which you must have read carefully and practised what is in my book.

But every single woman in all these years has left feeling very cheered, very hopeful and now with some kind of command over her problem and not the other way round!

    Best wishes,

    Angela

  22. Kay says:

    Dear Angela,

My namne is Kay. For the last 18 months I have been suffering and I think it’s safe to say I have reached desperation stage! I have been back and fourth to hospital more times than probably most of the staff, had every test possible, taken a lifetime supply of anti-biotics, suffered two miscarriages and even my urologist and gynaecologist have given up on me now! After scouring the internet I found a chat forum of women going through the same thing and a handful of them had recommended reading your book. I bought and read The Patient’s Encylopaedia of Urinary Tract Infection, Sexual Cystitis and Interstitial Cystitis and found myself constantly nodding all the way through! What a relief to finally find someone who clearly knows what they are talking about! I have put your methods into practice and although I am aware that you have stated that things may take time to heal, I am still feeling unwell and since my pain is constant I am convinced my symptoms may be due to interstitial cystitis. I was wondering how to go about having a consultation with you as while I have found your book to be very useful, there are still a few things I am unsure of and your advice would be very much appreciated. I would be grateful if you could get back to me.

    Kind regards,
    Kay

  23. Hi Mary,

Thanks for taking the time to send your comments.

I’ve written a book called The Mercury Fillings Compilation specifically to tackle and educate others about this topic.

I look forward to working with you,
    Angela.

  24. Mary says:

    Hi Angela,

I find it interesting that you have written about mercury fillings. I am a dental hygienist and have asked about them, along with fluoride back in the early 1980′s and of course I was told they were safe.

Let me know if I can help you in any way.
    With thanks,
    Mary

  25. Unfortunately, many of today’s elderly ladies have little idea of modern medicine and self-help when it comes to the more ‘intimate’ areas of their bodies. They might also be less able to read or use computers and simply be accepting of anything the GP or specialist suggests.

My book may well be beyond their interest for reading and practising so that is why I brought out a booklet with main points in bullet presentation. The booklet your eldelry neighbour should have is:
Cystitis in the Elderly and Care Homes

You need to get her a copy of this and she would be happy and able to get along with it well enough to take on the ideas written.

A lot goes wrong in the elderly female body down below and stiff joints can prevent the hygiene routines they used to use. Additionally hormone cream from the doctor can ‘plump up’ wrinkling and paper-thin skin which has become easily sore and split.

For information about Cystitis, click here.

To order the eBooklet, click here.

To find out more about my other publications, click here.

I also do counselling in the home of an elderly person but of course, I never examine, just look at their home hygiene practices and make new recommendations.

I wish your neighbour good health.

  26. Grace says:

I have an elderly neighbour who suffers dreadfully with Cystitis. How can I help her?

  27. Dear Mory,

Thanks for your questions. In response:

    1. It is sodium bicarbonate BUT I’m afraid you’re not reading my book properly. The 3 hour management process is not a CURE nor I do I say it is. It is explained to be an emergency for when twinges commence.

    2. Since you are having chronic UTI’s it’s the CAUSE or causes that you have to find. As my book says all the way through, until you find your cause or causes by carefully reading and thinking about your situation, you will continue to get such infections. Don’t skim through, work through looking for things in there that apply to you and your life.

    I wish you good health,
    Angela

  28. Mory says:

    Dear Angela,

I suffer from chronic uti’s. I just received your book.

    1. There is an ingredient in your three hour cure called bicarbonate of soda. I live in the US, is it the same as sodium bicarbonate? Or maybe even what we call baking soda?

    2. Please let me know, and I will get started on this right away! As the 2 different antibiotics are not working, and I feel like this is driving me insane. I actually am being recommended to see a urologist. The idea of that scares me, since all of my ua’s have been negative.

Anywhoo, thank you so much for writing and educating people across many continents about my horrible nemesis.

    Sincerely,
    Mory

  29. Tips and tricks, eh??? I don’t think so! My writing is all medicine-based. These are facts in my books and e-booklets which help the bladder, urethra and kidneys to repel and prevent urinary infections. You ignore them at your peril and by sticking to the advice you can remain free from trouble. Just like myself. Even as I age, I keep cystitis away with the hygiene daily and hormone cream at intervals.

Thank you for writing Marlyn, lets get this help out far and wide!

  30. Thank you for your kind words Michaele, I wish you continued good health. Please share my website and books with all of your famliy and friends; let’s keep everyone healthy.

  31. Michaele says:

I am soooo excited after reading your book. I believe I will never get another UTI! and I also believe that my diagnosis of IC is completely bogus, thanks to you!
I will never, EVER go a single day without bottle washing, IF I DARE!!
Thank you, thank you, thank you

  32. Hi Sacha,

Firstly, you have to know what to ask about when contacting any anti-mercury dentists and so I must recommend you get my e-book, The Mercury Fillings Compilation. The removal has to be done safely and then proper chelation / convalescence is most important.

It is impossible to keep updated on dentists nowadays so google anti mercury dentists into a 30 mile radius or so of where you live and see what comes up. With the knowledge in my Compilation you can then ‘interview’ them to make sure that they will proceed properly to remove this extremely toxic metal from your husband’s mouth.

  33. Marlyn says:

I actually wanted to type a quick comment so as to express gratitude to you for all the stunning tips and tricks you are writing on this website.

  34. sacha says:

Hello I am looking for a dentist to remove the mercury from my husbands mouth. I see you live in Essex, I live on the Essex/London border can you give me any recommendations where might be good for me to go for this? I would be very grateful if you could give me any advice. Thanks!

  35. Dear Sophie,

Thanks for being brave and contacting me. I’m sorry to hear about your painful experiences over such a long time. The good news is, you can get better!

I recommend reading “The Patient’s Encyclopaedia of Cystitis, Sexual Cystitis, Intertitial Cystitis”, this will be a good starting point to learn about causes, treatments and prevention of all types of Cystitis. This is available as a paperback book or eBook Armed with knowledge and a willingness for you and/or your partner to make a few changes, you will be able to improve and prevent further episodes. Prevention is always much better for you than using any costly products or relying on Antibiotics, which may only provide short term relief and create other problems in the future. Alcohol is an irritant, so try to avoid this for a time in order to get better, then in moderation is best; drink a glass of water in between each glass of alcohol.

Please feel free to email me directly with more specific details about your circumstances, I will be happy to help you: angela.kilmartin@dial.pipex.com

    Take care.

  36. Please share my website http://www.angelakilmartin.com with all of your friends and family for advice and guidance to keeping healthy.

  37. Sophie says:

    Dear Angela

I am feeling so depressed and uncomfortable with socailising and my sex life in my relationship all due to cystitis! Its been going on now for 2 years on and off via the help from antibotics , but never seem to shift the problem completly! Recently found that by taking bicarbonate of soda (teaspoon) in half a glass of water has helped, but isnt very healthy for me! My nurse has recommened me to speak to you as i am still young and finding it hard to resolve this problem! I’ve been told to take probiotic tablets….will this help? And i want to be able to drink Alcohol without feeling the burn and discomfort afterwards! I really need some advice on what can help solve it! I’ve been looking at your books, not yet brought one….i want to know which one is right for me? Please I’m desperate….thank you.

  38. I am glad you have Peter. Please know that a great many men go online to check for help for their wives or girlfriends, mothers or sisters. Want to give them the best ever Christmas present? Try freedom from UTI’s or Candida. If it’s Mercury Poisoning you want to know about, my Mercury Fillings Compilation is just wonderful, wonderful!

  39. Bewildered??? Oh yes! I was there for seven years in my twenties. No more, I know lots! Paperbacks or e-books?? Take your pick, I’ve got it all going for you.

  40. Actually Kenisha, the best way to help is spread the gospel of self help and prevention and put my site out to lots of friends with need. In all my years I know that I have affected, influenced and made well millions and millions of women from press articles, tips on radio shows, TV show, my DVD and of course the terrific books and booklets all from just clicking on a screen these days.

  41. Every sufferer has a different set of lifestyle circumstances. From my works, books and booklets, you can learn vast amounts of help, but you must question how you should apply the help to your own specific circumstances. That’s why counselling usually take 2 hours of Q & A’s.

  42. Kellsie says:

I have been so bewildeerd in the past but now it all makes sense!

  43. Kenisha says:

It’s really great that people are sharing this information.

  44. Elmira says:

Great thinking! That really breaks the mould!

  45. Mahalia says:

Unbelievebale how well-written and informative this was.

  46. Kaydi says:

Enlightening the world, one hepflul article at a time.

  47. Hi Lina,

    Yes, you clearly need counselling.

I would need to have in front of me then your most recent urine and vaginal swab reports. Ask GP for photocopies saying I need them for a fuller picture. I charge £50.00 per hour and it’s usually a 2 hour session of Q’s and A’s, no examination (since antibiotics do appear to work at the time it has to be infection).

I would also say that the above goes as generic for all such enquiries of a very personal nature.

    So, where do you live?

Please use your own e-mail from now, you can email me directly at: angela.kilmartin@dial.pipex.com

I look forward to hearing from you again. Take care.

    Dear Angela

I’m not sure if this is the appropriate channel to contact you for advice so please do direct me elsewhere if it is not.

I purchased your book on cystitis years ago and I have found it to be a great resource. I especially found the idea of bottle washing to be very effective at preventing accute bouts of infection.

However, nothing seems to get rid of my interstitial cystitis type symptons. I have had what seems like a constant low level infection for four years. Prior to that I had had recurrent UTIs for nearly five years but had been able to control this with prophylactic antibiotics.

I can’t get rid of this infection! I’ve had a cytoscopy during a laparoscopy for endometriosis but my bladder looked fine. Urodynamics revealed no other problems. I’ve taken countless continuous courses of antibiotics prescribedby NHS specilialists and GPs as well as natural remedies and Elmiron. My urogynae and I both believe that it is mycoplasma or ureaplasma but they haven’t been able to treat it with antibiotics.

I have had great relief when I have started on a new antibiotic like Norfloxacin for the first time but the symptons have soon come back. I took a three week treatment course of doxycyline but the symptons didn’t clear at al while I was on it and came back worse than ever as soon as I stopppedl.

I’m writing for help because things are quite hard to manage right now because my husband and I are trying for a baby. This is hard on my bladder and it means that I am limited in what antibiotics I can take.

Unfortunately, we have not had any luck with conceiving and it seems my endometriosis is the problem. I’m worried that mycoplasma could be further damaging my fertiltiy.

We’re going to have IVF on the NHS soon so I would almost considering temporarily giving up on trying to conceive naturally so I could take a course of whatever antibiotics necessary for a short while.

Can you recommend an anitbiotic and dose? Or do you have a consultancy where I could come for an appointment?

Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

    Best wishes

    Lina

  49. My 3 subjects, unless prevented and understood properly through my books, eBooks, eBooklets, translations, DVD cause havoc in ordinary lives.

UTI’s, Vaginal Thrush, Dental Mercury Poisoning stop all manner of daily enjoyment from getting to work, getting to the shops, having sexual intercourse, playing with the children and so on. They lead to great depression, job loss, and they stop sex.

The paperback books, eBooks, eBooklets, e-book translations, DVD are available online, in shops, via Mobipocket and all over the place. They will pull the sufferer back from the brink and restore a happy, pain free life.

  50. There is basic information and detailed information on my website but much more in the booklets and books and DVD available on via the Supplier page.

Vacations are often ruined as mine once were, by miserable Vaginal Thrush or yet another Urinary Infection. As for the Mercury angle, well, 9 years in bed for me prevented all vacations as I was too lethargic to get out of bed, dress myself, even carve the turkey because I was utterly shattered by this poison seeping everywhere.

  51. It is a riveting site altogether, travel guide! Straight-talking, no-nonsense excellent advice and of course, many holidays and much travel can be ruined by having to go ‘behind bushes’ or make a break for a Doctor in the hills!

Knowing how to prevent UTI’s and Yeast infections is a simple daily life change and I have made unnumbered women well.

My books are the first stage in conquering the problems and I have fab bulleted booklets and a DVD too.

  52. This is always a difficult one to answer mainly because each person has had a different level of infection by Mycoplasma, its located in different places and also I have to say, by being prescribed insufficient antibiotic. It is no secret that I suggest maximum antibiotic dosage from the start as this best whops the infection out cold and doesn’t seem to allow for any entrenched ones left behind to start multiplying all over again. Where a Doctor is refusing a strong course then I can reply that web pharmacies could be helpful for the remainder of the stronger dosage.

Some women (and men) get well very quickly with total release from the pain; others seem to have areas of heavy inflammation either within the bladder or the vagina or the urethral tube where all activity like just walking downstairs can cause mucosal surfaces to ‘rub’ against each other and re-inflame the inflamed area.

Following the recovery plan in the IC section of “The Patient’s Encyclopaedia” can be a longer haul than you had hoped. Equally, in view of insufficient amounts of antibiotic, I can find myself recommending another course to ‘be sure’. My own recommendation is always to have the strongest at the start.

  53. Dear Laura,

When women ask me questions they often do it as you have – whilst awaiting the book. Of course, the book is packed with information and the questions are usually answered on one of the 200 or so pages. The middle section of “The Patient’s Encyclopaedia” is called Sexual Cystitis and so page after page deals with sexual causes of UTI’s. Germs are germs and not caused by any dietary considerations. All sexual Cystitis is germ-based. Either his germs in many cases or mainly yours. Then also in this big section are discussed the relationships between contraceptive causes, position causes, bruising causes, hygiene causes and so on. It’s a very good read and by now you have opened your eyes to what may be going on in your own case. This could for instance, be your coil string or some other feature of the coil. There is lots of hope and interest and then you can try out my ideas and monitor your own results. When you respond to antibiotics, its clear then that you have an infection or otherwise the symptoms would not decline because antibiotics do only work to eliminate germs / infections.

  54. I just couldn’t depart your web site before suggesting that I really enjoyed the standard information a person provide for your visitors? I’m gonna be back often to check up on new posts.

Many thanks for taking this chance to speak about this, Personally I think strongly regarding it and I make use of learning about this subject. When possible, as you gain data, please update this website with new information. I’ve found it extremely useful.

    Hi again!

I also forgot to mention that I have had the copper coil contraceptive in for a year and I’m concerned that this might be causing/ prolonging some of the symptoms, although my urine samples have come back clear apart from one early in the year, which was treated with antibiotics.

    Any advice greatly appreciated.

    Hi Angela,

I have just ordered your book on UTI’s (Encyclopedia) as I have suffered for years. I did change some habits relating to sex and what I drink and noticed a massive improvement but I have become a bit lax recently regarding what I consume and have noticed a gradual return of my UTI’s.

I have been allergy tested in the past and cut out milk products and was advised to reduce citric acid. This is all in line with a balanced PH diet which I am now researching in depth (I’m guessing this is addressed in your book?). I have just eaten celery sticks with salt on and drank warm water with a slice of lemon and this seems to have relieved my symptoms (at last!). I hope this is something you recommend in your book as there is so much conflicting advice out there.

I have had symptoms for over a week now but have had clear urine sample results from the Doctor so no antibiotics prescribed, (although I already agree these aren’t the long term solution). Dr. is referring me to Urologist for the second time but I’m not even sure I want to go as they never seem to have a solution.

I have not drank alcohol for over two weeks now but would really like to socialise with friends as I am getting really down, cystitis is obviously affecting my sex life and relationship. If I am going to have a few drinks, would Vodka, Sparkling mineral water and a slice of lemon or lime be the best option to try?

I am keen to read what is involved in your ‘bottle-washing’ technique, does this flush out any bacteria that are currently present? I seem to get cystitis more frequently after sex with my current partner which is extremely frustrating for both of us. I hope your book addresses things we can both do to reduce this happening.

I am also really interested to hear your thoughts on diluted cranberry juice as a preventative measure.

Anyway, apologies for rambling on, you must have heard this thousands of times. Thank you in advance for any advise I learn from you. I can’t wait to read it!

    Yours hoping!

    Laura x

Having suffered for 2 years with what seemed like UTI’s but always showed no bacteria. I have undergone 4 cystoscopy’s all of which show no IC, the last one there was a biopsy done which showed a minimal scattering of chronic inflammation this apparently also rules out IC as too mild. My bladder also has normal capacity. I have also had every kidney test going and all is normal. Having purchased your book I went to see Dr Fred Lim and was diagnosed with a heavy vaginal growth of ureaplasma urealyticum. The bladder sample was normal but the vaginal swab was not. My urine had been tested for this before but it also came back negative. This was the best bit of news I have had in a long time,. However I have completed the course of antibiotics and still have symptoms. Strangely the symptoms have always been intermittent and can vary throughout the day. My question is was the course 200mg doxy for 5 days and then 100mg for 3 weeks strong enough. I have been re-swabbed and the germ has gone however the symptoms have not. In your opinion should I take more antibiotics? Or as in your book can it take time for the pain to go and in your experience if so how much longer should I expect to suffer, starting to lose hope a bit!!
